Dear potential sponsor...
We are a new cricket club, that you may already know, we have over 80 members already, that you may not know! We are looking for sponsors!
We are getting regular hits on this site! (over 7000 since Oct 2005)
What is in it for you? Well, we are a very media-friendly club who are doing things the right way from the ground up. And what started out as the idea initially to net throughout the winter has turned into a fully functional cricket playing and training club with 80 members in little under four months.
Not only are we now a playing cricket team with league status and affiliation, but we have coaching for 8 to 12 year olds, coaching for 13 to 17 year olds as well as 2 full net sessions a week for adults (October to April). These sessions are not restricted to any specific club, nor do they preclude anyone from turning up and giving cricket a go.
This website is generating a vast amount of traffic from members as well as other interested parties. There is a stats link at the bottom of the page... feel free to look at the stats which may help in the decision to sponsor or advertise. Any sponsors would of course benefit from adverts being placed on the website on all pages.
We are also getting a great amount of media coverage locally, Radio Cambridgeshire, Lite FM, Peterborough ET, as well as Anglia TV.
What is different? We have set up a club which has been participating in cricket or cricket-related activities every week since the 1st October 2005. As you may have seen in the photo gallery we have kids from 8 years old all the way through to 69 years old.
We give all ages and abilities the opportunity to participate at their own level, as well as giving them the chance to improve through coaching and general involvement. Every step of what we have done has been run past Peterborough City Council Sports Development Officers. They have been very helpful in guiding us in the correct way of doing things from the start, and due to this we are on our way to gaining "club mark" accreditation. one of only around 180 clubs in the country to have this, with only one other club in the region actually having this at the moment (March Town).
What have we done so far? We have applied - via the Council for limited Lottery funding, which can take an age; we have a full club constitution and elected officers in all of the important roles (including a Welfare Officer); we have attended Child Protection courses and been CRB checked (Criminal Records Bureau); we have two ECBCA Level II Coaches; We have a club and cricket development plan in place; volunteer coaches passing on knowledge to young and willing cricketers - some of whom are new to the game and WILL be playing in an adult team this season.
We are trying to get a renewed interest in cricket in the younger age groups - not off the back of the Ashes - but because we all love the game and have seen a decline in the number of players between 20 and 30 years of age, which has not healthy for the game itself.
We have also provided the club with a bag of gear - to the tune of £500 value. This was payed for by us at a discounted rate from Hunts County Bats (thank you guys!), but as this is over two seasons old and used by all comers, has reached its
What do we want from you? We are not a cash-rich club, we are also not in a position to put our hands any further into our own pockets at present. We could scrape through the season as we stand, but it would be nice to be able to provide the kids that are new to cricket with an embroidered shirt and jumper... something that makes their first season in adult cricket stand out in their memories for years to come. It would also be nice to give the Under 12s a training top when they join.
We are using council facilities to do everything, so we have to pay for them. What we would like from a sponsor is that the sponsorship goes some way to covering these costs, provides sponsored shirts/pullovers, covers the match ball and umpire fees, pays some way towards the match day teas. All of the levels of sponsor ship are at present open to negotiation... with an all-encompassing sponsorship being in the order of £1500-2000 this is a great opportunity for a local business to raise their profile through a good cause.
This number of members with families and friends offers a huge scope for a small business to reach many new potential customers. We will also be offering advertising in our A6 fixture book at £25 per advert (1/2 page, artwork provided).
Thank you for your time & effort in reading this, and considering sponsoring us!
